I've heard stories of blue merle border collies having health issues. I'm not talking about hearing problems, or merle/merle breeding , conformation lines or poor breeders now. These are all respectable working lines. This goes back 20 years or so, maybe no one has any answers here? I've "heard l Border Collies can reach 56 cm in height and 20 kg in weight. Their life expectancy is 10 -14 years. The Border Collie is an athletic, medium-sized dog (15-20kg) with long hair. They can have a rough or smooth coat, and although black and white is the most common colour, the breed actually has a wide variety of colours and patterns. The basic colour of an animal’s fur is lightened and grained in places. The eyes of Merle dogs are also unusual: blue, white or blue-white. Typical Merle breeds include the Australian Shepherd, Collie, Chihuahua, Dachshund, Border Collie and Great Dane. The selective breeding for this colour is often accompanied by ocular and auditory defects.
